Manila: The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) expresses its condolences to the family of a Filipina who was pronounced dead on arrival after being rushed to Al-Sabah Hospital, Kuwait on 14 May 2019.

The Philippine Embassy in Kuwait reported that they received a report on the case on the midnight of 16 May 2019 and has assigned a lawyer to handle it. The Embassy is in close coordination with local authorities to gather evidence and investigate the untimely demise of the Filipina.

the worker has died at the hands of her employer in Kuwait reportedly black and blue and with a “cucumber” inside her private part, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) announced Thursday.

Citing initial reports, Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said that the 47-year-old victim was rushed to Al Sabah Hospital but was declared dead on arrival. “Her body bore various contusions and hematoma, with a ‘cucumber’ inside her private part,” Bello said.

Embassy Charge d’Affaires Mohd. Noordin Pendosina N. Lomondot also said that the Embassy has also requested Kuwait’s General Forensics and Evidence Department to expedite the release of the forensic report, which is usually processed within four to six weeks. The Filipina was deployed as a household service worker in January 2016 to Kuwait and returned in 2018 as a Balik-Manggagawa on a second contract with her Kuwaiti employer.

(DOLE) is looking to reimpose a ban on the deployment of household service workers (HSWs) to Kuwait, following the death of the Filipino worker.

“It’s an option,” Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello said in a text message Thursday night when asked if the government would reimpose the deployment ban on Kuwait after the death of Constancia Lago Dayag, an OFW from Agadanan, Isabela.
